We prioritize Indigenous recruitment and opportunities for equity-seeking groups, creating clear pathways for the development of next generation leaders.POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Controller oversees TWC’s accounting and finance management in alignment with TWC’s values, mission, and strategic priorities. Accountabilities include financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash management, ensuring accuracy of records and results, risk assessment and mitigation, and providing recommendations to company leadership. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the financial reporting needs of a rapidly growing company.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESManagement- Oversees the operations of the accounting department.- Determines and implements an optimal structure and staffing for the department.- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.- Manages outsourced functions such as business advisors, accountants and/or auditors.Transactions- Overall responsibility for ensuring optimal performance for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial reporting, taxation.- Maintains a system of controls over accounting transactions.- Preserves an efficient accounting filing system.- Preserves a directory of executed contractual documents.Reporting- Manages the production of the annual budget and forecasts.- Organizes a system of management cost reports.- Provides financial analysis as needed, for contract negotiations, pricing decisions, and capital investments.- Recommends benchmarks against which to measure the performance of Company operations.- Directs the preparation of the quarterly and annual reports.Compliance- Provides information to external auditors for audits as applicable. Conducts internal audits as requested.- Complies with regulatory requirements.- Monitors debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business; professional designation strongly preferred.- Minimum 5 years of experience in a management role in accounting or finance.- Experience in a professional consulting or other project-based environment.- Expert MS Excel skills needed.- Advanced computer skills needed.- Strong attention to detail.- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.WORKING LOCATIONWork will generally be performed in the Victoria office.
