Job Description

Buyerlink is seeking an experienced Data Engineer who is energized by spreadsheets, loves tools like Tableau, and enjoys diving deep into data. Armed with an inquisitive brain and an aptitude for complex problem solving, the Data Engineer will curate and analyze various sets of data to create actionable reports. The role involves more than just looking at numbers: An analyst also needs to know how to use data to enable an organization to make more informed decisions.Additionally, this role requires very strong database skills and basic programming skills. The Data Engineer will perform a multitude of data tasks, including: import, export, modelling, querying, performance optimization, integration. This is an in-person role at our office in Victoria, BC. What you #39;ll do:Leverage data to support our business:

  • Work with business users and technical staffto identify opportunities for improvement,
  • Create reports for internal teams and/or external clients,
  • Collaborate with team members to collect, process and analyze data,
  • Implement interactive visual reports using Tableau software,
  • Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business decisions,
  • Structure large data sets to find usable information,
  • Work with a team of analysts and other associates to document business logic,
  • Create presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings.
Manage data analytics:
  • Manage master and metadata, including creation, updates, and deletion.
  • Manage access to data and reports.
  • Provide quality assurance of imported data, working with quality assurance analysts if necessary.
  • Commissioning and decommissioning of data sets.
  • Processing confidential data and information according to guidelines.
All things reports:
  • Helping develop reports and analysis.
  • Managing and designing the reporting environment, including data sources, standards, documentation and training, security, and metadata.
  • Supporting the data warehouse in identifying and revising reporting requirements, implementing data flows and integrations.
  • Supporting initiatives for data integrity and normalization.
  • Assessing tests and implementing new or upgraded software and assisting withstrategic decisions on new systems.
  • Generating reports from single or multiple systems or sources.
  • Troubleshooting the reporting database environment and reports.
  • Evaluating changes and updates to source production systems.
  • Training end-users on new reports and dashboards.
  • Providing technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing.
Your skillsamp; experience:
  • 3+ years of work experience in the field.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
  • Knowledge of software tools for BI and data integration (Tableau, SQL Server Integration Services).
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to complete projects within specified deadlines.
  • Ability to solve problems in innovative ways.
  • Eagerness to learn new techniques and tools.
