Create and maintain records of rare and endangered species and ecosystems; coordinate the collection of seeds, propagation and reintroduction of these plant species; research, introduce and monitor new management techniques for the maintenance of natural ecosystems and for the prevention and control of invasive species. Research, create, plan, implement and evaluate programs for natural areas and cultural history.Facilitate community involvement and promote awareness of conservation and environmental issues to municipal staff and the public by conducting nature walks, field outings and associated activities. Develop and present educational and training programs for staff, public and school groups. Work with staff and community groups in planning and implementation of invasive species removal, vegetation control, natural areas restoration and management and other cooperative programs.Work with staff to prepare input to community plans regarding natural conservation issues. Respond to inquiries and provide advice to staff, the public and outside agencies relating to joint activities. Develop policies and procedures related to natural areas. Attend public and interest-group meetings to provide information about and participation in conservation and associated ecosystem issues. Select, coordinate, monitor and review the work of consultants and contractors as required.Prepare grant proposals and work with groups to fundraise for support of natural areas; assist in preparing the budget for this area.
