More information can be found here.A great opportunity to take the next step in your careerThe Property Taxation Branch fulfils the Ministry’s statutory responsibility for taxation administration, through the application and interpretation of relevant Acts and Legislation, pertaining to five major property taxation programs: Home Owner Grants, Property Tax Deferment, Property Transfer Tax, Rural Property Taxes and School Property Taxes. These programs generate annual gross revenues in excess of $3 billion.The Property Transfer Tax section of the Branch monitors all property transfer tax transactions submitted through the Land Title and Survey Authority and ensures compliance with the Property Transfer Tax Act (the Act), regulations and policies. Through the conduct of audits, teams ensure the correct tax is paid and/or exemptions/adjustments claimed are valid and accurate. Annually property transfer tax accounts for about $2 billion in provincial revenue.The position supervises a team of compliance analysts to respond to inquiries and conduct compliance reviews. Key accountabilities include ensuring customer service excellence and monitoring compliance reviews to ensure consistency with legislation and policies.   • Diploma or higher in a related field; OR
  • Completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, or CMA); OR
  • Enrolled or fully eligible for enrollment in the CPA Professional Education Program; OR
  • A minimum completion of the first two years of a degree in a related field; OR
  • Minimum of Level 2 of the BC Public Service Financial Management Certificate Program; OR
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Experience:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of financial, tax administration or audit experience. Preference may be given for more years of experience.
  • One year (1) experience interpreting and applying complex legislation.
  • Minimum of six (6) months supervisory, team lead, project management or similar leadership experience.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • Experience working in a tax administration environment.
  • Experience with Tax Administration Systems.
