Job Description

Securiguard K9 provides K9 protection and detection services for clients throughout Western Canada. With over 30 years of experience, we are the largest supplier of K9 services in Canada and have provided services to all levels of government, as well as corporations, industry, and other high-profile assignments.As a k9 Handler, you will play a vital role in achieving our exponential growth and driving forward our mission to make people feel safe. Your focus will be on establishing and nurturing partnerships by effectively managing all issues in your assigned account portfolio, while ensuring a high level of service.This is a dynamic role, and we are seeking someone with a self-starting, entrepreneurial spirit, who is passionate about the industry, and looking for an opportunity to develop their career with a leading organization.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety and security of the terminal and onboard vessels
  • Provide K9 Patrol/Protection support in accordance with established procedures
  • Provide explosive or narcotic detection support
  • Handle dogs/K9 units
  • Regular patrols every 1-2 hours
  • Attend weekly K9 maintenance training
  • Communicate with members of the public to provide direction and/or service
  • Unlock/lock up checks and related security procedures
  • Act as a visible security deterrent
Qualifications:
  • Valid BC security license (or ability to attain)
  • Class 5 drivers license with a clean drivers abstract
  • Ability to care for K9 after hours and provide a suitable home / friendly environment for a dog
  • Must have a suitable vehicle to transport K9 to and from work in an approved crate
  • Physically fit to stand/sit/patrol for up to 12 hours per day, carry 50lbs, and walk up and down stairs
  • Ability to commit to a 2-month K9 training program
  • 1-2 years of security experience is an asset
