Salary: $25.00/HourlyJob Type: Full Time, PermanentStart Date: As soon as possibleLanguage: EnglishMinimum Education: High SchoolPositions Available: 1NOC Group: Carpenters (7271)NOC Job Title: Carpenter Lead HandExpires in 35 daysExpires: 2021-06-16Posted: 2021-05-12Last Updated: 2021-05-12Job Location(s)Victoria, British ColumbiaJob DescriptionGUNN Contracting is based on Southern Vancouver Island and works on several construction projects, renovations, upgrades, and other servicing projects.We have various exciting projects that will have you using your skills in site management, logistics, team management, and excellent carpentry skills to help our clients to make their plans and dreams come true.We have been in the industry for 4 years with various customers across Victoria, the capital regional district, and beyond.We also offer competitive wages based on experience ($25-45) and benefits after the prohibition period.Responsibilities:>>> Act as a team leader and team player who works well with others, gives and follows directions well, and processes good communication skills and willingness to learn.>>> Monitor and assist employees and contractors’ workmanship to achieve highest standard and quality through projects.>>> Ensure health and safety regulations are followed>>> Co-ordinate work activities with project managers and other site supervisors. Communicate with them to schedule upcoming activities.>> Review, follow written and verbal directions to direct crew to execute project plans.>> Demonstrate ability to use initiative to determine, judge, and select appropriate course of action.>>>>> Read blueprints and drawings. Work with project managers and architects in resolution of design issues, change requests, material requirements, and cost optimizations.The requirements we are expecting from you:>>> Proven experience as a carpenter and leading people.>>> 1-3 years of relevant experience as carpenter in the construction industry.>>> Red seal certification is a great asset; but not a requirement.>>> Process strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, materials, and reading plans and drawings.>>> Work Schedule is 8 hour shifts from Monday to Friday. Travel to remote sites may be required.>>> Good physical condition, endurance, reliable attendance, and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.>>> Must adhere to WCS safety standards and follow site specific safety requirements as directed by project managers and clients.>>> A truck with a valid driving license, smartphone, and must provide own tools.>>> PPE is required: Hard Hat, Steel toed boots, and high visibility vest(s).>>> Must be based on close proximity to Langford, Victoria, or Vancouver Island (or willing to move).We expect you to start immediately as we are growing fast.
