LSB’s clients include all ministries of the government, Cabinet and certain public agencies.The Natural Resources, Transportation and Indigenous Legal Group (NATRIL Group) within LSB is seeking a solicitor for one full-time permanent position within the Transportation and Land Unit of NATRIL. The Transportation and Land Unit provides legal advice on transportation infrastructure projects and Crown Land transactions. The Unit is an advice-driven organization that supports government in the management and administration of the Province’s transportation corridors, Crown land management, and natural resources.   • Must be a member of the Law Society of British Columbia in good standing OR immediately eligible for call to the Bar;
  • Level 1 is based on years of call (up to five years of call for Legal Counsel 1).
  • Level 2 is based on years of call (up to eleven years of call for Legal Counsel 2).
Experience in one or more of the following areas will be an asset:
  • Experience with and/or an understanding of the role of the Attorney General and a familiarity with the operations of government;
  • Experience in administrative law and advising statutory decision makers in the conduct of their business;
  • Experience in the registration of interests in land, conveyancing, and files involving the Land Title and Survey Authority;
  • Experience in negotiating, drafting and the successful completion of agreements involving land related matters;
  • Experience in drafting and interpretation of legislation and regulations;
  • Experience in the drafting and implementation of Indigenous Land Transfer Agreements, including Incremental Treaty Agreements.
