The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.The Office of the Speaker is seeking a motivated, organized and detail-oriented individual for the auxiliary as-and-when position of Administrative Assistant. The hours of this position will vary from 4 days per week when the House is sitting to 2 days per week during periods in which the Legislature is not in session. For more information about the sessional schedule, please view the parliamentary calendar on our website https://www.leg.bc.ca/parliamentary-business/parliamentary-calendar.Reporting to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Administrative Assistant is provides administrative support and acts as first point of contact for the Office of the Speaker. This position is responsible for managing information inquiries, parliamentary events, projects and communications related to activities of the Speaker’s Office.QUALIFICATIONSApplicants must have:

  • Completion of relevant post-secondary training and a minimum of five years’ experience in a senior administrative support role, preferably in a parliamentary or public sector environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing complex, sensitive communications and confidential matters.
  • Advanced proficiency with current business software and computer applications, such as electronic mail tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
