As a unionized MoveUp role, the position will be 37.5 hours/week, Monday – Friday. 8:00am – 4:00pm. Based in our Victoria Depot with the opportunity to work remotely when operationally feasible. Keep reading to find out if this role is meant for you!What youll be doing...To illustrate what you could be doing in this role, this is what a day might look like:You’ll be based out of the Victoria Transit Centre administration building, with opportunities to work from home. You’ll likely start your day with a quick team check-in to align the team’s current priorities and see how we can best support each other. From there you may support our Maintenance Instructional Designer by providing mechanical subject matter expertise while you collaborate to build out a new Battery Electric Bus training course aligned to industry safety standards.The afternoon could be filled with a trip over to the Langford Transit Centre to deliver some hands-on training or review Safe Work Procedures with our Mechanics or other Maintenance support staff. Or perhaps conducting a learning needs analysis to determine how our team can support our Apprentices with the knowledge, skills and abilities they need to be successful. You’ll be encouraged and supported to share ways to help the team achieve our department goals, and the work you do will contribute to building employee engagement within our department.To view the full job description for this role please see the attached.What youll bring to the table...You’re a natural leader at heart, thriving on a passion for coaching and developing those around you, and a mission to continuously improve the environments you work in. You may have previously worked in roles such as Mechanic, or Fleet Inspector. You are a relationship builder and know the importance of building trust with the people you work with in order to build their engagement during training sessions.You’re an experienced Commercial Transport Mechanic with an interprovincial Red Seal. You have worked in transit, maintenance or educational positions and are confident and knowledgeable when facilitating training on the shop floor. You have a foundational understanding of the different adult learning styles and can apply different techniques to ensure all learners are engaged. You’re a team player, a collaborator, and you’re not afraid to try innovative approaches to build trust with a diverse audience. You work well with partners to collaborate in gathering the requirements to build the right training solution. You are organized and can quickly identify where staff are in their learning path, and coordinate the courses they need to participate in.
