Boom + Batten is actively seeking a Pastry Chef!Featuring a team of dedicated and talented industry professionals, we serve coastal cuisine inspired by our local surroundings and global adventures.Our food program features west coast inspired fare, featuring meat, fish, local vegetables, pizza, and house made desserts and baked goods in our café. Located on the water in the Victoria International Marina, with stunning views of the waterfront from our dining room, bar, and café.Your passion for baking and pastry will lead our team to the execution of superior experiences for all guests. You will continuously train, develop and lead an incredible team who will be motivated by your inspirational leadership and who understand the crucial role they all play in the overall success of the business.Summary of Responsibilities-Creation and execution of plated dessert menus, as well as café baking and pastry offerings-Coordinate with front of house and café managers to ensure proper stock of baked goods as well as freshness and rotation of stock-Work closely with the executive chef to manage product ordering, menu creation, and training and development of your team.-Supervision of the baking and pastry team-Responsible for ensuring that proper food handling and presentation are being met by all staff-Organizing and conducting pre-shift meetings and communicating pertinent information to all staff-Handling guest concerns and complaints in a prompt and professional manner-Organizing, building and maintaining a professional work environment-Assisting with recruiting and overseeing all training of the pastry teamPreferred Experience, Skills and Education-Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills-Must possess good attitude, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure-Red seal is required-Completion of a baking + pastry program is required-Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role in a high volume environment is required. Proficiency in all areas and skill-sets of baking and pastry is required including: plated desserts, ice cream, baked goods, chocolate work, French pastry, and cakes.-Strong background in hospitality with a focus on guest satisfaction-Successful applicant must be highly resourceful and innovative with a strong understanding of food cost and cost management.-Must have skills with Microsoft Office-Scheduling skills are an asset-Excellent knowledge of baking and pastry- exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to create a fun, dynamic, and safe environment for your team to grow and thriveSchedule Requirements-This full time position requires schedule flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, day or nights and holidays.-Schedule may fluctuate based on requirementsCompensation: Rates will be negotiated based on the successful applicants qualifications and experiencesThank you for your interest, only applicants selected for interviews will be contacted at this time.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: From $25.00 per hourAdditional pay:
