Western Educational Adventures (WEA) runs outdoor adventure camps for kids on VancouverIsland, primarily in the Greater Victoria area. Our goal is to teach children valuable life skillsand give them an appreciation of nature through exciting outdoor adventures. WEA is lookingfor Outdoor Education Supervisors to run our new Wild Paws Day camp programs in 2022.Supervisors are responsible for mentoring junior staff and are expected to have significantexperience in the industry. Staff may get the opportunity to work on our other camps fromtime to time. Position periods include on-call and summer camp. We ask you to take amoment to thoroughly review this job description and our website before applying.Renumeration$147.5 - $175/day depending on certification and experience.Contract DatesWEA is looking for outdoor staff to work our Summer Camps – June 12th to September 3rd, 2022HoursStaff start at 07:45 and finish at 17:15, Monday to Friday at one of the following locations:1. Elk/Beaver Lake Park2. Thetis Lake Park3. Sooke AreaConsiderations: The exact location will vary each week depending on which program staff are assignedto. Breaks are available throughout the day. Staff may be asked to work one of our other camps from time to time. They would berequired to work as per the hours of the other applicable positions.ExpectationsWEA supervisors are expected to meet all the requirements of a Senior Outdoor EducationInstructor – Wild Paws as well as: Be able to manage a program and several staff with minimal support from management. Posses strong leadership and communication skills Make hard decisionsResponsibilitiesThis contract requires you to be able to perform all functions of a Senior Outdoor EducationInstructor – Wild Paws as well as: Mentor & supervise all staff Work with individual staff to develop short and long-term performance goals Update management on staff performance, program quality and notable events Drive WEA’s various vehicles Plan weekly activities Communicate directly with parents, especially about children’s behaviour and incidents Keep a daily logMinimum qualifications: 40 hr Wilderness First Aid certification At least 2 years experience working with children in the outdoor industry Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening National Lifeguard certificationDesired qualifications: Class 2 or 4 driver’s license At least 1 year of supervision within the outdoor industry 80 hr Wilderness First Aid Canoe or kayak certificationsApplication Instructions:For your application to be considered, we must receive the following:1.
