In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient & staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.Reports to the Manager of Geriatric Assessment and Rehabilitation (GEM) Programs or designate. Under general direction of the GEM Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist, and as a member of a multidisciplinary team in an acute care setting, carries out activities and programs that promote the functional ability of individual patients in self-care, mobility, activities of daily living, productivity and leisure. Implements treatment techniques determined by GEM therapist, assists in fabrication of adaptive devices, equipment, and adjusts mobility devices. Reports observations on patient progress to GEM therapist and team.QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceCompletion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Skills And Abilities
