At Sunset Lodge our goal is to provide quality care to a community of residents where individuality, compassion, dignity, and respect are key ingredients to a safe, holistic, home-like care environment for each resident.The Salvation Army Sunset Lodge -LTC facility is currently seeking an RCA - Resident Care Aide to join the Nursing Department for our 108-bed complex care facility.Casual /On-Call positions are currently available.Responsibilities

  • Resident Care Aide provides personal care to residents, such as bathing, dressing, grooming oral hygiene, and care of skin and nails.
  • Through appropriate behavior and work procedures, resident safety is a priority while working in the facility.
  • Assists with transfers and mobilization of residents using body mechanics, transfer belts, and mechanical aids such as walkers, wheelchairs, and lifts in accordance with the policy of Sunset Lodge.
  • Records observations and reports any changes/concerns in the resident’s condition, such as behavior, mobility, temperature, skin status, appetite, and attitude to the LPN or RN.
  • Resident Care Aide transports residents to and from dining room areas and transports residents to chapel, activities, other programs or services
  • Assists residents with meals; serves, meal assistance, monitors residents intake, and reports on the resident’s intake when intake varies from their Nutrition Care Plan.
  • Provides written/verbal information on the activities of daily living and works with the LPN/RN to develop the Resident’s Care Plan and attends Care Conferences as required.
  • Resident Care Aide assists with the admission process and orientation of new residents according to policy.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment and safety hazards to LPN or RN.
  • Performs scheduled cleaning of W/C, walkers, tubs, lifts, and other equipment.
  • Assists with the orientation of new staff as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Grade 10, plus graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Current BC Care Aide and Community Registration
