What you’ll be doing…The Victoria Regional Transit Planning team strives to provide customer focused, efficient, reliable transit service to the community. Under direction of the BC Transit Planning Manager and the guidance of the Work Lead, you will be responsible for the planning, designing, analyzing, monitoring, evaluating and modifying the service strategies to support the efficient operation of the Victoria Regional Transit System.The Victoria Regional Transit System progresses through four major operational service changes each calendar year. The successful candidate will focus on supporting the implementation of these service changes using their skills in planning, project management and teamwork.You will preferably have a minimum of two years’ experience delivering transportation planning work in a mid to large transport system. You understand the principles and mechanisms which support the development of transit network planning and service delivery including the relationship between planning and scheduling.Some specifics include…Contributes planning expertise and collaborates with senior transit planners and other supportive staff such as schedulers, Government Relations Managers and fleet planners to lead the development and implementation of plans and projectsIdentifies and recommends actions on project risks and opportunities based on analysis of data, trends, and issues. Alerts Manager to critical issuesDevelops Transportation planning, methods, techniques and models in support of designated project deliverables, ensuring compliance with department standards, policies and proceduresCollaborates with leaders and professionals across the organization, with an objective to optimize planning services and project outcomesDevelops and manages relationships with stakeholders to understand needs, keep them informed and resolve issues.
