Job Description

Reporting to the President, the HR Manager for Valard Quebec and Gtek works in partnership with operational and corporate leaders to translate business goals into people requirements and to ensure those requirements are met through the application of HR programs, policies and processes.The HR Manager is responsible for aligning HR initiatives with business objectives, providing education and collaborative support to management and employees, and implementing best-in-class HR practices. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong HR background, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence and navigate a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Requirements1. Strategic HR Partnership· Collaborate with operational leadership to develop and execute HR strategies that support organizational goals and drive business performance.2. Talent Acquisition · Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract skilled candidates.· Assist management with writing job descriptions and determining job requirements.· Manage the full cycle recruitment process including posting job openings, pre-screening, conducting interviews, checking references and facilitating pre-employment requirements. · Create employment offers ensuring consistency and accuracy.· Ensure onboarding processes results in effective and efficient onboarding for all new hires.3. Talent Management (Compensationamp; Performance Management)· Collaborate with management to effectively manage talent and create succession plans.· Support and coach management in performance management processes, include goal setting, performance reviews and development plans.· Provide guidance on addressing performance issues and improving overall team performance.· Collaborate with management on requests for compensation-related issues, utilizing Valard’s wage adjustment process.4. Talent Development· Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention. · Develop and implement programs that foster a positive work environment.· Assist with providing relevant training programs, as determined by management.5. Employee Relations· Support and make recommendations to management on employee relations issues including, progressive discipline, interpretation of HR policies and processes, and interpretation of employment and labour legislation. · Support management staff on termination process including determination of severance, terms and conditions and outplacement in consultation with legislation.· Conduct employee investigations as required and provide effective recommendations for resolution.· Collaborate with appropriate company resources to resolve any potential or real litigation or legal issues.6. Policy Management and Documentation· Review, create and update current policies as needed, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations.· Create and recommend best practices to maintain compliance.· Educate management and employees on all policies and best practices as required.· Manage employee files7. Analytics and Reporting· Analyze HR metrics and trends to identify areas of improvement.· Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis.8. Additional Duties and Responsibilities · Lead or participate in HR projects, such as system implementations, process improvements and cultural initiatives.· Understand HR systems (i.e. Eclipse, JDE, HRIS, Jobillico, Workable etc.) and data available to provide insightful recommendations to the business.· Collaborate with stakeholders and assist with the development and communication of safety policies, ensuring compliance with regulations, and actively contributing to maintaining a safe work environment.· Identify gaps and areas of risk as they are understood, making recommendations for improvement.· Respond to telephone, email and in-person inquiries regarding HR matters in a timely and professional manner.· Coordinate and work collaboratively with the payroll department as it relates to new hires and pay related changes and updates.· Coordinate with Labour Relations Manager to all ongoing grievances and disputes are managed.· Support HR Data Privacy initiatives.· Other duties as required.Knowledge:· 5+ Years Experience in HR Leadership position· CPHR Designation is preferred· Diploma or degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration/ Commerce/ Management with Human Resources and /or Labour Relations coursework.· Interpersonal Excellence: Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills delivered in a professional manner.· HR Expertise: Possesses foundational knowledge of all aspects of human resources, including Employee Relations, Labour Relations, and Employment Legislation, specific to Quebec labour standards.· Communication Proficiency: Exhibits effective verbal and listening communication skills.· Attention to Detail: Shows attention to detail and maintains a high level of accuracy in all HR functions.· Autonomy and Team Collaboration: Balances the ability to work independently with a collaborative team-oriented approach.· Objectivity in Stressful Situations: Maintains objectivity in high-stress situations.· Business Acumen: Demonstrates a strong understanding of the business and its intricacies.· Leadership Expertise: Possesses exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.· Pragmatic and Principled Approach: Adopts a pragmatic and principled approach, focusing on the right balance between operational excellence and HR best practice.· Results-Oriented: Highly skilled in execution and maintains a results-oriented mindset.· Research Proficiency: Exhibits effective research skills.· Bilingual Proficiency: Fluent in both French and English.Skills:· Customer Service Excellence: Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills, establishing and maintaining professional relations with customers, staff, and service providers.· Initiative and Independence: Is a self-starter with initiative, able to work both independently and as an effective team member.· Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Possesses analytical and problem-solving skills.· Decision-Making Ability: Demonstrates strong decision-making skills.· Prioritization and Multitasking: Excels in prioritization and multitasking.· Attention to Detail: Maintains a high level of accuracy in all tasks.· Data-Driven Mindset: Approaches HR with a data-driven mindset.BenefitsValard Construction LP is an equal opportunity employer, committed to a diverse workforce.
