Job Description

Tundra Oil & Gas is a Manitoba-based oil and gas exploration and production company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Winnipeg-based James Richardson & Sons, Limited. We are committed to working together and to getting everyone home safe every day.Tundra is seeking a Drafting/Design Co-op Student based out of our Virden, Manitoba office starting in January 2023. The incumbent in this role will be eligible to participate in Tundra’s hybrid work schedule.Reporting to the Lead Facilities Engineer the Drafting/Design Co-op Student is responsible to:

  • Assist in maintaining underground Facilities maps. Update against known QA/QC data, Licenses, external data, locates received from the field, etc.
  • Draft and design of P&ID’s, PFD, ISO’s and plot plans for construction projects
  • Draft and design of pipelines for Tundra’s flow line projects.
  • Draft and design small construction projects – Header upgrades, flow line tie in, Satellite, etc.
  • Provide technical support for construction projects – Assembly of construction binders, bill of materials, clearances & crossing agreements, etc.
  • Red drawings pre- and post-construction.
  • Other related duties as required.
Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:
  • In progress of obtaining a post-secondary education in an Engineering Technology field.
  • Understanding of and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings – PFD, P&ID’s, Isometrics, plot plans, surveys.
  • AutoCAD Training is required.
  • Understanding of and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings – PFD, P&ID’s, Isometrics, plot plans, surveys.
  • Excellent Autocad skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Team player who enjoys learning and contributing to team goals.
  • Accountability for accuracy and high quality of work performed.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Embraces new technologies, recognizes the need for changes, responds effectively to changing conditions, and applies continuous improvement techniques.
  • Demonstrates good attention to detail.
  • Adhere to the safety accountabilities as per Tundra’s Safety Policy.
