Job Description

We are committed to working together and to getting everyone home safe every day.Tundra is seeking a Weed Control & Lease Maintenance Coordinator based out of our Virden, Manitoba office.The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate and support safe, timely, cost-effective and consistent lease maintenance including grass seeding/ mowing and weed control on leases and Right-Of-Ways. The weed control & lease maintenance coordinator will be responsible for promoting a positive and professional relationship with landowners, RM’s and regulators.Reporting to the Surface Land Manager, some specific duties and responsibilities of the Weed Control & Lease Maintenance Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and coordinate chemical applicators to ensure proper and consistent weed control is achieved through all areas of operation.
  • Coordinate lease maintenance efforts including tillage and seeding on leases and ROW’s.
  • Coordinate the fall mowing program.
  • Communicate with Operations, Facilities and Lease Construction to ensure clear understanding regarding responsibilities associated with weed control and lease maintenance.
  • Work closely with the gov. bodies and ensure compliance with all requirements of the appropriate Acts.
  • Coordinate and or assess vegetation growth on leases and ROW’s.
  • Contribute to positive relationship building with landowners and the public.
  • Field and resolve complaints/issues with landowners as they relate to lease maintenance and weed control.
  • Update and maintain database in ArcMap GIS as required.
Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent or a combination of education and experience.
  • Post-Secondary Education in Agriculture or Environmental Sciences is considered an asset
  • Must Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Farming background or experience in farming profession or has a good understanding of the many aspects of farming operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong knowledge of ArcMap program.
  • H2S Alive
  • First Aid & CPR
  • Ground Disturbance Level II
  • Knowledge of, and willingness to achieve certification in
    • TDG
    • WHMIS
    • Defensive Driving
  • Oilfield production and operations knowledge is considered a definite asset.
  • Has the ability to interact productively with landowners and occupants.
  • Has the ability to work effectively within a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Can prioritize projects and rank information details in terms of importance, and deal with them accordingly.
  • Has solid interpersonal and team building skills. Treats all team members respectfully.
  • Demonstrates leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Has strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Demonstrates good attention to detail.
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination.
  • Adhere to the safety accountabilities as per Tundra’s Safety Policy.
