Job Description

CHANGE Health Alberta - Rural After-School Program FacilitatorCHANGE Health Alberta responds to changing trends in health by providing programs to children, youth and adults in the community to foster healthy living practices and inspire a commitment to wellness.We have identified a need for stronger relationships between rural healthcare, municipalities and community partners that bridge the vision and mission of Change HealthAlberta. We are currently seeking a part-time youth worker to support our after school programming in Entwistle and Wabamun, Alberta as well as provide health and wellness support to families living in Parkland County.Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate the Change Adventure After School Program in Wabamun and Entwistle, Alberta for Ages 7-15.
  • Support community initiatives to improve or implement mental health and community supports or services.
Liaise with coalition partners, service providers, youth and their families.
  • Collaborate with coalition partners in the development of a rural supports and programs for families
  • Provide creative, engaging after school programming to 15 children in Wabamun and Entwistle
  • Work with youth, families and service providers to educate, communicate and assist in navigation of available diverse programs, services and referral processes in Parkland County.
  • Promote mental wellness and health in the community.
Additional Notes:
  • Must be available to work evenings if required.
  • Perform various other duties as required.
  • Must have their own vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience working with youth and young adults (ages 7-15). Experience with counseling/consulting is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, active listening skills; able to be compassionate and empathetic.
  • Solid critical thinking and planning skills; some research experience will be an asset.
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining regular communication.
  • Experience with community development projects is an asset.
Education/Professional Certifications/Designations
  • Completed or currently enrolled in a related degree or diploma program (Human/Health Services,
Education, Social Work).
  • Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C.
  • Must be able to provide a Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check completed within the last 6 months
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Mental Health First Aid and Suicide Awareness Training is an asset.
