Requisition ID: 35121Opportunity Type: PermanentEstimated Annual Salary: 200,000 - 250,000Type of Remuneration: APP- Alternative Payment PlanSite Visit & Reallocation Allowance Programs: Relocation Program; Site Visit ProgramDepartment of Health & Wellness Incentives: Debt Assistance; Family Medicine Bursary Program; Tuition ReliefAbout This OpportunityThe collaborative care team at Wagmatcook Health Centre (WHC) is seeking a part-time family physician to join their team in the Wagmatcook – First Nation community. This is a multi-disciplinary team that consists of four full-time nurses (three registered nurses and one licensed nurse practitioner), one dietician, and four social workers (two child/adolescent and two adult).The successful candidate will be working closely with physicians at the nearby Victoria County Memorial Hospital in Baddeck. Inpatient care and emergency department coverage is optional.Responsibilities

  • examine patients, take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
  • advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • consult and refer to other medical practitioners
  • act as a patient advocate
  • prescribe and administer medications, treatments, inoculations, and vaccinations
  • report births, deaths, and contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
Expected Hours
  • part-time (0.5 FTE)
  • physician can work any 3 days of the week between Monday and Friday
Qualifications
  • all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • all family physician must have membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • all specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
  • membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
