Job Description

You will introduce youth to entrepreneurship by showing them the daily reality of a business in a field they are passionate about. Through real-life businesses (in their school or community), they are placed in an environment that encourages them to enhance their community.Job conditions:

  • September to June, with possible contract renewal
  • Part-time: 3 to 12 hours per week per project, depending on the programs OR full-time
  • Possibility of coordinating several projects
  • Pay: starting at $20.00/hour
  • Flexible and regular schedule according to your school schedule, which will allow you to reconcile your professional life with your academic success.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach the students an entrepreneurial vocabulary;
  • Guide the students through every step involved in the creation of business planning;
  • Manage the daily activities of the businesses once they have opened.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Having the students benefit from your expertise by putting forward projects that are integrative, stimulating and diverse;
  • Working closely with the school’s teachers and administrators, and Youth Fusion officials, in order to maximize the project’s impact and awareness within the school;
  • Maintaining a professional relationship with the school (diligent attendance, communications, adherence to the culture and rules of the school environment, etc.);
  • Taking initiative, being creative and a self-starter, in order to effectively contribute to the project’s execution and success;
  • Attending team and progress meetings;
  • Supervising the students and looking after their safety;
  • When needed, representing Youth Fusion, the sponsoring post-secondary institution or the project itself before our partners;
  • Drafting the appropriate reports (midway progress and final reports) as scheduled;
  • Prepare for and participate in the year-end events to showcase the students’ success.
REQUIREMENTS Academic
  • Currently pursuing a collegial or university education in a field related to business, management, administration or any other related field (e.g. teaching, intervention, psychology, communication, recreation and animation).
Experience
  • Experience working and interacting with elementary school students and teenagers.
  • Volunteer work or any other tangible experience working with youth (humanitarian trips, day camp for teenagers, homework help, university projects related to youth, internships, etc.).
Will be considered as an asset
  • Knowledge of entrepreneurship (market research, business plan, business start-up, board);
  • Any experience working with children with learning or behavioural difficulties.
  • Ability to organize and facilitate activities;
  • Must have a strong desire to be a role model for the school’s students, and act as an agent of social change.
Language(s)
  • Spoken and written English;
  • Spoken and written French (an asset, as some schools are French speaking).
Computer
  • Office Suite;
  • Graphic knowledge (Canva, Photoshop, etc.) considered an asset.
