Job Description

(Full-time Contract – September 2024 - August 2025)The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player to join our team in the role of Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Members of Council and CAO.General Responsibilities: The Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Members of Council and CAO provides administrative support to these positions, as required. Duties include answering the telephone, responding to e-mails, filing, preparing correspondence, organizing meetings, conducting research and preparing briefing notes.Discretion, confidentiality and the ability to work well as part of a team are important.Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field (ie. Business, Office/ExecutiveAdministration) or significant experience in absence of education;
  • Proven experience in a providing administrative support at a senior level, preferably in a government setting;
  • A demonstrated knowledge of local government mandates and priorities, core businesses, relevant legislation;
  • Proven experience building effective relations with internal and external contacts;
  • Experience coordinating logistics;
  • The ability to exercise sound judgement in dealing with the public, excellent customer service skills;
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitive information in a discreet manner;
  • Proven ability to create effective reports, correspondence and e-mails and research and interpret legislation;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, elected officials, the business community and general public;
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills with an ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and Outlook with an aptitude to learn new programs quickly;
  • Ability to work a possible modified work schedule that incorporates a variety of shifts including: day, evening and weekend as required;
  • Ability to provide a current, appropriate criminal records check and drivers’ abstract and valid Ontario drivers’ license upon hire.
