Job Description

Job Location: Brantford/WaterfordProvince: OntarioWorking with the field supervisor and lead hand, this position will operate a Directional Bore machine or locate for the drill operator (Ditch Witch or Vermeer) and drive the support vehicle (s) used to transport this equipment to various project sites.Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload directional bore equipment in a manner that is secure and damage free
  • Transport associated tools, materials and/or equipment in a safe manner
  • Good Attitude and Work Ethic
  • Complete Driver’s logbook & daily vehicle inspection (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, accident or incident reports
  • Complete a daily inspection on bore equipment prior to commencing work
  • Prepare the drill fluid based on site conditions prior to boring commencing
  • In conjunction with locator, operate the directional drill using the selected bore heads and back reamers to place cables and / or duct
  • Trouble shoot any equipment issues and relay to service technician for assistance or resolution
  • Able to operate the drill locator as required
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements.
  • Must be able to work in a high paced working environment
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting 50+ lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Read and interpret plans, diagrams and perform required work
  • Firm understanding of underground locates
  • Mini-Ex experience an asset
  • Strong work ethic
  • Team player and motivator
  • Valid Ontario Class AZ
  • Must be fully proficient with CVOR and Book 7 requirements
  • Criminal Background check is required
  • 2+ years Directional Boring experience
  • 2+ years Directional Bore locating experience
  • Experience driving and operating truck and trailer
Physical Demands: Must be able to perform the physical demands of the positions. These include but are not limited to working outdoors movement of equipment and/or materials, frequent lifting and pulling.
