NABCO Canada is a subsidiary of NABCO Entrances and a member of the Nabtesco Group of Companies globally.NABCO Canada delivers high quality North American built automatic pedestrian entrances and accessibility solutions that exceeds the growing needs of retailors, healthcare facilities, education providers, restaurants, and many more institutions throughout Canada.With a focus on unsurpassed reliability and ongoing development of innovative products, let us open doors for you.Position SummaryThe Automatic Door Technician is responsible for executing automatic pedestrian entrances system service calls and installations in accordance with relevant codes and regulations.Key responsibilities include staying current on product technical knowledge and able to execute at high quality.Essential Functions

  • Address service requests by travelling to client sites to repair, configure, clean, lubricate, and/or replace required components.
  • Make recommendations for repair or replacement of automatic door components or entire units, under consultation with Senior Automatic Door Technicians.
  • Tend to pedestrian entrance needs with a sense of urgency.
  • Communicate parts used, time on site, product functionality and travel through mobile software.
  • Maintain a high level of workmanship, ensuring the quality of installation or repair meets client expectations.
  • Minimize rework and repeat service related issues.
  • Installation of automatic doors, automatic door operators and associated glass.
  • Liaise with the project team to best deliver on client expectations and communicate unforeseen challenges.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy on assigned service vehicle and maintain knowledge, understanding and identification of all parts.
  • Tend to after-hour service requests and planned overnight installations on a rotational on-call
  • Maintain safe work practices and abide by all NABCO safety procedures.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and take pictures to document job completion.
  • Perform safety inspections to ensure adherence to AAADM standards.
  • Review project documentation to ensure the product and materials on the work order align with client requirements.
  • Visit client sites prior to scheduled installation date to confirm readiness and take measurements when needed.
  • Inspect assigned company vehicle for potential safety hazards on a monthly basis.
  • Provide guidance to junior level Automatic Door Technicians.
  • Assist with product identification and compatibility assessments when required.
  • Provide guidance to on building code requirements as needed.
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Able to visualize and deconstruct multiple working components to assemble/disassemble complete units with minimal flaw.
  • Able to use mobile applications designed to program entrance systems and complete service request.
  • Highly proficient with hand and power tools (ie. Drills, caulking guns, pliers, screw drivers, etc.).
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong knowledge of low voltage electrical motors, wiring and components.
  • Strong ability to interpret and calculate measurements in metric and imperial format.
Education, Training, Experience
  • Completion of secondary school or relevant combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience servicing and installing automatic pedestrian entrance systems.
  • An active member of AAADM with a valid inspector certification.
  • Mechanical/Electrical Aptitude.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clear driving record.
