Job BriefDrive/operate a range of delivery vehicles over public roads in order to move or deliver explosive products to company or customer sites in a timely and safe manner.This is a temporary position (5-6 months)Who We AreDyno Nobel is a global leader in the commercial explosives industry. IPLs 4500 employees also manufacture and market industrial chemicals and fertilizer products & services to customers around the world.What You’ll DoAs the Driver, you will drive/operate a range of delivery vehicles over public roads in order to move or deliver explosive products to company or customer sites in a timely and safe manner. You will operate rigid-frame, engine-powered machines (skid steer or equivalent). Other duties will include:Possess basic mechanical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs or maintenance while in the field, deliver and off load product within DN H&S Management System procedures and practicesDrive/operate a range of delivery vehicles over public roads in order to move or deliver explosive products to company or customer sites in a timely and safe manner. Driving duties will also frequently extend off of public roads to include mine locations/roads, FSRs, off-road field locations and other such potentially difficult terrainLoad and unload all trucks, and maintain magazines, sites and inventoriesFollow all safety procedures and maintain safe working conditions in the shop, while driving and operating equipment and while on blast sites in order to protect personal safety and safety of othersPrepare and maintain all records and reports concerning the handling and transportation of explosive products, including safety, and the use and detonation of explosives, in order to ensure accurate billing, regulatory compliance and performance historyKnowledgeable of and consistently apply practices consistent with company policies and procedures from applicable technical modules, SOPs, work site, and safety policies and proceduresAbility to work accurately with numbers and perform simple mathematical calculationsProactively handle safety issues and practice Take 5! Process. Undertake Job Step Analysis in order to assess risks when approaching new tasksMaintain safe working conditions and assure that all crew members and others on the site follow all safety and regulatory procedures and practices to ensure a safe and successful eventResponsible for Inventory ManagementWhat We’re Looking For:Minimum Class 3 with Air Brakes endorsements requiredGrade 12 Diploma or equivalent preferred12-24 months of mechanical, commercial driving, explosives or related work experienceMust satisfy the requirements for NRCAN Explosives Handling PermitAcquire and maintain all appropriate licenses and certifications required by Federal and Provincial entitiesSatisfactory completion of and demonstrated competencies in DNCI specified training modules, including technical, regulatory and other applicable skill-based trainingExperience with Inventory Management a plusAbility to read, write, and speak English, and to communicate in writing and verballyMust be at least 21 years of agePositive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team playerWhat We Offer:Paid vacation time + paid holidaysHealth Care + Life insurance + AD&DRRSP + RPP (after 1 year of continuous employment)Employee Assistance ProgramFriendly and supportive coworkersZero Harm for Everyone EverywhereValue People – Respect, Recognize & RewardThink Customer.
