Job Description

Wild Rose Rural Electrification Association Ltd. (WRREA) is a not-for-profit member owned electrical utility provider. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Journeyman Powerline Technician in Westlock, Alberta. Applicant must live in, or be willing to relocate to Westlock.This is a full time Monday to Friday role with “on call” rotation requirements with the opportunity for overtime hours in the event of power outages and or emergency situations.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Erect and maintain distribution system
  • Install, maintain and repair overhead and underground powerlines, cables and insulators, lightning arrestors, switches, transformers and other associated equipment
  • Ensure equipment, tools and materials are maintained in operable/ safe working order and supply
  • Ensure company vehicles are stocked/ routinely checked serviced and equipped in readiness for any emergency
  • Ensure shop area is kept in a clean and orderly manner.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Journeyman Powerline Certification/ Red Seal
  • Familiarity with Trucks, Aerial Lift Boom, Digger Derricks, Skid Steer
  • Self-starter with the ability to work productively and independently
  • Team Player
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams and mapping
  • Strong distribution system knowledge and skills
