Full-time Kitchen Assistant - Jobs in Westwood, ON

Job Description

We are currently looking for a Full-time Kitchen Assistant at our Westwood location.Responsibilities:

• Must be able to work Sundays/Holidays and have the flexibility to cover when another worker is sick.
• Preparing ingredients for the Kitchen Manager, which includes washing, peeling, cutting and slicing ingredients.
• Ability to follow recipes from start to finish and do simple math.
• Ability to use commercial kitchen equipment including chef knives, 5 rack convection oven, food processors, dishwasher, induction burners, etc.
• Packing orders for different stores in an orderly fashion
• Storing prepared ingredients and kitchen inventory according to food safety standards
• Properly washing and drying all dishes, cooking instruments, and cutting boards.
• Removing garbage at the end of every shift.
• Sweep and mop floors when needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Food Handler Certificate an asset
• Understanding the importance of Personal Health and Hygiene within a Commercial Kitchen Setting.
• Ability to lift 50lbs
• Basic food preparation skills
• The ability to stand for long periods of time
• The ability to use kitchen equipment and appliances in a safe manner
• Strong communication, time management and organizational skills
• Positive attitude
