Emergency Medical ResponderWhat We DoWe deliver essential medical services to a wide range of companies and help to protect and support workers in remote oil field, pipeline and industrial settings.About the RoleA day in the life of an Emergency Medical Responder requires courage and compassion; facing diverse and interesting situations where you directly affect peoples lives by your actions.Position BenefitsConsistent work on a rotational scheduleFlexible scheduling available if applicant is working elsewherePaid per hour in accordance with normal daily/weekly overtime legislation; we do not use Oilwell Servicing exemptions to average overtimeAll other employee pay components are in accordance with provincial employment standardsOpportunity to enroll in group benefit planCompany pays for annual medical registration renewalOngoing investment in training and developmentResponsibilitiesProvide a quick response to medical emergencies in an industrial settingAssess and attend to patients injuries; determine a course of treatmentProvide first-aid or support to injured workersEffectively communicate status and next steps of the injured worker to emergency servicesClean and decontaminate vehicles (mobile treatment center) and/or clinic area and maintain areas in a state of operational/medical readinessEnsure all reporting and communication requirements are adhered to regarding incidents, injuries, and treatmentMaintain confidential patient medical documentation and reports as per governing body requirementsQualificationsRegistration as an Emergency Medical Responder with the Alberta College of Paramedics (preference given to candidates with dual provincial registration)H2S AliveCPR - Health Care Provider (HCP) or Basic Life Support (BLS)Non GDL Class 5 (or equivalent) drivers License; Class 4 if working in BC for forestry workCommon Safety Orientation (CSO)Personal CharacteristicsHighly skilled and well known for bringing order to chaos; especially when patients are scared, in pain or shock from an injury.Caring yet take control type of personality. The ability to take a calm and logical approach to emergency situations.Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)Functional knowledge of computer operations, including Excel, Word, and OutlookEffectively organize and prioritize situations and activities ranging from urgent patient care issues to routine office and clinic dutiesReliable, dependable, and capable of working in a fast-paced team environmentAble to travel via motor vehicle and air transportOther RequirementsPhysical demands of the role include lifting up to 50 kilos.Proof of registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics is required.Drivers abstract required showing 4 or less infractions in the last three (3) yearsCandidates must successfully complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol testWe welcome all qualified candidates to apply, the diversity of our workforce reflects the communities we serve.
