Date: June 13, 2022Location: City of Weyburn – Public WorksThe City of Weyburn is a dynamic and progressive community located in the heart of Southeast Saskatchewan.Recently voted the best place to live in the Prairies by MoneySense Magazine, the city has a population of over 10,500and a solid economic and community foundation upon which new opportunities are continuously built.The Public Works Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient operation of vehicles and equipment to carry out workrelated to the maintenance and operation of the Public Works Department.Responsibilities: Operates equipment to remove sand, litter and trash. Operates equipment to remove snow from streets, parking lots and other areas. Operates sewer maintenance equipment to maintain and repair sewer systems. Operates trucks equipped with apparatuses for spreading sand, salt or abrasives on roadways. Performs general equipment operation and maintenance. Maintains vehicle and equipment maintenance logs. Assists with any labour related to the repair and maintenance of water or sewer mains and services. Assists with repair and maintenance of sewage lift stations. Cleans and repairs catch pits and manholes. Assists with the rebuild of streets and sidewalks as required. Performs traffic control duties as assigned. Operates all light utility vehicles of the Public Works fleet for various purposes. Performs other duties as required.Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent GED. Hand signal training required; Certificate in Confined Spaces, Bucket Training and Fall Protection required; Possession and maintenance of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 licence and a valid Class 3A licence required Training and certificate in Power Mobile Equipment for the following: excavator, grader, compactor,loader and skidsteer would be considered an asset.Experience Three (3) years’ experience in municipal operations or equivalent.Additional Information: Job Status – Permanent Full Time Benefits and Remuneration – Commensurate with the CUPE Local 90 Collective Agreement Application Deadline - This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is foundTo Apply:Please submit your resumes and cover letters directly to careers@weyburn.ca.
