Job Description

The Farm in Stouffville is a private, residential, mental health and addiction treatment centre located in Stouffville, Ontario; 45 minutes outside of Toronto. We’re currently looking for an experienced, full-service addiction counsellor on an overnight basis.This position requires an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and self-directed professional who will work closely with clients in providing timely and effective mental health and addiction treatment services.

  • Perform patient intakes, screenings and assessments;
  • Provide comprehensive treatment planning and case management;
  • Design and implement goal-oriented care plans;
  • Lead group and one-on-one therapy sessions;
  • Identify potential recovery triggers and teach coping mechanisms;
  • Provide crisis intervention, supportive counselling and advocacy as required;
  • Create, maintain, and secure all appropriate documentation related to a patient’s treatment;
  • Meet with family members and provide guidance and support;
  • Develop and conduct presentations to patients, the public, and other service providers.
Qualifications:
  • Addiction Counselling Diploma or equivalent education;
  • Minimum two years of experience working with substance abuse and mental health issues, residential experience is an asset;
  • Certification in Addiction Counselling (CCAC) preferred
  • Membership with Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF) preferred
  • Significant knowledge of a variety of counselling modalities including systemic intervention models, CBT, mindfulness, and relapse prevention;
  • Knowledge of community resources and provincial addiction system;
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
  • Up-to-date CPR/First Aid certification;
  • Ability to work shift work, evenings and weekends;
  • A successful Vulnerable Sector Check, as per agency policy and procedures.
Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $20.00-$22.00 per hourSchedule:
