It’s easy, fun, inspiring, and soulful – enriching the body and the mind through four pillars of wellness: physical fitness, social pursuits, emotional health, and nutritious meals.As Active Living Assistant, you work closely with our Active Living Manager to assist in the delivery of PARC’s trademarked Active Living programming that emphasizes PARC’s 4 pillars of living well and is based on the 7 Dimensions of Wellness. The Active Living Assistant will also play a role in community events connecting PARC’s residents and supporting the PARC brand with community-based activities, programs and outreach as specified by the Active Living Manager.As PARC Active Living Assistant, you’re responsible for:

  • Assist the Active Living Manager in core programs to engage residents socially, educationally, and culturally and encourage participation in activity-oriented programs.
  • Set up assigned events and activities on the monthly Active Living calendar.
  • Track Active Living events and program attendance as required.
  • Ensure that residents have the space and equipment necessary to conduct self-led resident programs.
  • Help the Active Living Manager with ideas and best practices for Active Living cultural programming, speakers and entertainment to reflect the resident interest and to stimulate new interests.
  • Guide and engage residents on assigned excursions as per the monthly calendar.

It takes a special kind of person to work here – does this sound like you
  • Minimum of 12 months experience working with seniors in a recreation function.
  • Diploma/certificate in recreation therapy or related experience would be an asset.
  • Fitness certification(s) would be an asset.
  • Class 4 unrestricted license required.
  • Familiarity with injury prevention in fitness environments.
  • Background in senior activity programming or community event support and programming.
  • Proven safety-oriented mindset.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and development, encouraging both personal and team growth.
At PARC Retirement Living we understand the importance of immunization to protect our residents, team members and visitors from COVID-19. As such, a prerequisite of employment is that all new hires are fully vaccinated as approved by Health Canada.
