Job Description

Controls EngineerOcean Park Mechanical (OPM) is one of the premier design-build mechanical contractors of Western USA and Western Canada, with operations in Washington, Oregon, California, and British Columbia. By providing the majority of mechanical requirements in-house, including engineering, 3D-design, sheet metal, HVAC, refrigeration, and controls, we are a “ONE-STOP” shop for any project.What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary of $95,000 to $105,000 CND per year D.O.E

Purpose of Position: The Controls Engineer works on low-rise and high-rise residential projects in Western USA (WA, OR, CA) and Canada (BC). The Controls Engineer works with the Design team produces plans, and drawings regarding controls on projects, ensuring that designs are in compliance with the company procedures and necessary regulations.Job Location: Surrey, BCReporting Structure:Controls Engineer reports directly to the Lead Engineer.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Interpret plans and specifications for the project
  • Design a controls package in compliance with the project scope for Building Management Systems
  • Produce AutoCAD drawings of the system showing network layout, hardware wiring, riser diagram, control sequences, and equipment submittal
  • Ensure designs are in compliance with the company procedure, regulations, protocols and client standards
  • Produce accurate 2D drawings, BOMs, and valve schedules
  • Coordinate drawing production is in line with project requirements and in conjunction with other disciplines
  • Build schematics
  • Use feedback from other in-house Engineers to improve the designs to save labor and materials cost
  • Assisting Project Managers, Superintendent, and Foreman with drawings production
  • Attend meetings with clients and other OPM team members
Experience, Educationamp; Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • 1-2 years’ experience in the construction industry preferred
  • Strong background in either HVAC/DDC controls or engineering components
  • Ability to design in AutoCAD or Viso
  • Proficiency with Autodesk products (CAD) is required
  • Previous experience in HVAC would be considered an asset
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
