Job Description

Alberta Newsprint Company (ANC), a joint venture of the Stern Group and West Fraser Timber Company Ltd., is a leading manufacturer of premium paper products. The company is a successful, well-financed, progressive organization that is regarded as one of the best companies in the paper industry.We are currently recruiting for the role of Stores Technician (Contract). This position reports to the Purchasing Manager and will be responsible for both inventory management and shipping/receiving functions of the Stores department. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, stellar organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex systems. Ideally, the successful individual also has excellent communication abilities, math and analytical skills, and relevant computer savvy. RESPONSIBILITIESInventory Management

  • Responsible for maintaining warehouse inventory through the completion and reconciliation of cycle counts on a scheduled basis.
  • Research, reconcile, and resolve issues with inventory variances.
  • Identify and report close dated product.
  • Conduct, document, and report on inventory audits.
  • Analyze and identify areas where internal controls can be improved or implemented at an appropriate cost/benefit relationship, with goal of becoming a SME on field-level inventory internal controls.
  • Maintain adherence to financial and operational control policies and procedures.
  • Provide assistance in generating Purchase Order Requisitions as required.
Shipping/Receiving
  • Manage outbound/inbound freight, including receiving inventory into our system, organizing and labelling stock items, and distributing parts to storage locations.
  • Act as the main contact for customs paperwork in relation to international inbound/outbound shipments.
  • Review min/max inventory limits.
  • Load and unload freight from trucks using a forklift, manual lifting, etc.
  • Obtain quotes and negotiate rates.
  • Manage and enter service purchase orders, monthly billings and invoices in coordination with the Accounting department.
  • Complete daily inspections on Stores mobile equipment, ensuring it is maintained in good working order.
  • Remove stock items from racking (picking parts).
  • Receive WHMIS-controlled products in the proper manner, ensuring proper SDS is obtained and held.
  • Oversee the Stores laydown area.
  • Participate in inventory counts alongside the Inventory Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional educational or relevant certification is an asset.
  • Prior experience in inventory management, shipping, receiving or logistics preferred.
  • Familiarity with inventory software management systems, including Hexagon is ideal.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Desire and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items up to 50lbs is required.
  • Stand, walk and move around the warehouse and/or storage areas for extended periods.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks, if required.
  • Sitting at a computer from time-to-time is also required.
