We believe that our values of diversity, collaboration, innovation and mutual respect bring out the best in our team, and are currently accepting applications for a full-time, permanent Utility Maintenance Operator I to work within the Infrastructure Services Department, reporting to the Manager of Utilities. This position is responsible for daily operational and maintenance functions as required at the wastewater lift stations, water distribution, and wastewater collection systems. Qualifications:Minimum high school education Alberta Environmentamp; Parks Level 1 Certification in water distribution and wastewater collection would be an asset. Experience in the operations of water distribution, sewage collection, and wastewater lift stations would be an asset. Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence is required; Class 3 is preferred. Must be able to work in confined spaces, trenches, tanks and with ladders. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions. Must be able to meet the Town’s on-call protocols and participate in the on-call rotation as assigned by the Utilities department. Experience with computers, Microsoft office suite and meter reading computer software would be an asset. Experience with vacuum truck operations and heavy equipment operations would be an asset. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with the public and contractors in a professional manner.The applicant must be physically fit for heavy labour related tasks and be prepared to do shift work, on-call and any overtime as required by the supervisor. The successful applicant will be a person who is willing to work outside the parameters of the position description and be able to work with minimal supervision. The position requires an individual who is safety conscious with self-motivation, exhibits accuracy, mechanical and computer skills, neatness and completeness in all functions, and relates in a positive manner to the general public, as well as other staff members. The successful applicant will be required to pass pre-employment physical and criminal records check, and provide a driver’s abstract prior to being hired.
