Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: $22.50/hourakisqnuk First Nation is seeking passionate Community members that are interested in supporting the Community Garden asSeasonalGardeners. The Gardeners will maintain and support the growth and development of our community garden. The Gardener will be responsible for planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, and general upkeep of the garden, while engaging with volunteers and community members to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment. akisqnuk First Nation (AFN) is a member Community of the Ktunaxa Nation. AFN exists for the Community. Externally, we are here to serve the Community, and internally, we are our own Community, comprised of different departments unified by our Vision, Mission, and Values. As a team, through our own roles and departments, the AFN Organization works together to achieve our strategic plan Our Thinking and continue to progress and move our community forward.Note: These positions are seasonal (May to October), working casual hours and a flexible schedule, with no guarantee of weekly hours. The primary responsibilities include:Prepare garden beds by weeding, tilling, fertilizing, and amending soil.Plant, water, prune, and harvest fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers.Monitor the health of plants and apply organic pest and disease control methods as needed.Maintain cleanliness and order in the garden, including composting, tool care, and waste disposal.Support community members and volunteers in the use of garden plots.Assist with organizing community garden events, workshops, and educational activities.Keep records of planting schedules, garden maintenance, and harvest yields.Ensure safe use and storage of gardening tools and materials.Other gardening duties as assigned.
