Job Description

Title: Settlement Support FacilitatorReports to: TBDPosition Status: Full time, short term contract until March 31st, 2023Salary: $42,000 annuallyStart Date: ImmediatelyLocation: Cornwallis, NSDept:9520At the YMCA we know that our ability to partner with others in our community is through the passion and dedication of our employees and volunteers. Our Immigrant Services department has been providing settlement services for over 25 years both in HRM and in smaller centres through our YMCA settlement and language programs across the province and through our mission to “Build healthy communities through the power of belonging”.The OpportunityAs part of YMCA Immigrant Services team, the Settlement Support Facilitator will work closely and provide two deep leadership to the complex and emerging needs of new arrivals in Nova Scotia with a focus on those arriving from Ukraine. This position will be responsible for direct client and community engagement as well as tool and process development to support the coordination of resources and the evolving needs of this special project response.Responsibilities include

  • Acting as a liaison and navigator to ensure uptake of referrals
  • Working with partners to support resource allocation
  • Sharing resources and updates with other SPOs and community organizations across the province Coordinating and integrating approaches to the evolving information and needs of new arrivals
  • Organizing and leading information sessions
  • Outreach to different community organizations and resources to leverage support
  • Providing outreach support to clients across the province when needed
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to create a referral network of services for clients Collecting and tracking data and reporting
  • Development of relevant tools, processes and resources
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with immigrants, displaced people and refugee
  • Combination of relevant education and experience working in community setting
  • Demonstrated outreach experience and excellent rapport building
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity and experience in various online tools and platforms
  • Ability to create tools and resources that support efficiencies and information sharing
  • Demonstrated experience engaging various stakeholders and community organizations to support integration and coordination of approaches
  • Experienced with facilitating large and small groups
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated discretion and sound judgement in the handling of confidential information
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Skills
  • High level of initiative outside of regular business hours, as needed.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Drivers license and reliable vehicle an asset is needed to work independently and respond to unanticipated situations
  • Schedule flexibility to accommodate variations
