Job Description

Manager Technical OperationsWindsor, NS, Canada Req #1119January 30, 2023BIOVECTRA Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.BIOVECTRA Inc. has an immediate opening for a Manager, Technical Operations. This is a full-time permanent position located in Windsor, NS.The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing leadership development to the technical operations team
  • Assigning technical resources to align with business unit priorities and objectives.
  • Managing, training, and coaching a team of technical support staff throughout the new product lifecycle projects.
  • Identifying training opportunities to create a diverse team that is knowledgeable in the scale up and validation of manufacturing processes.
  • Immediate troubleshooting of urgent technical issues in manufacturing
  • Documentation/task tracking hourly to evaluate workload, effectiveness, and forecasting for each team member.
  • Improving Right First-Time documentation metric to continuously improve the quality of documentation in turn reducing operational errors.
  • Preparing weekly progress updates to senior management in dashboard format to report progress, risks, and opportunities.
  • Providing direction, influencing production decisions, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring alignment to ensure product will adhere to quality standards and client expectations.
  • Communicating information to appropriate client representatives to ensure successful product transfer and commercialization.
  • Facilitating alignment of development and operations technical decisions necessary through completion of process performance demo, engineering and validation runs to ensure commercial viability of the manufacturing process.
  • Participating in client visits and routine technical communication with clients.
  • Administering HR policy to subordinates.
  • Adhering to BIOVECTRAs Health and Safety Policy as outlined in CP0010 Occupational Health and safety Policy, Statements of Principle, and Responsibilities.
The successful candidate for this position should have:
  • Bachelor of Science, MSc considered an asset.
  • Five years experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical company.
  • Two years experience with technical support of drug substance manufacturing or drug substance development experience with technology transfer and manufacturing experience.
  • Broad based understanding of Operations including Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control.
