Job Description

WBG Tradesperson/or Apprentice Tradesperson (Motor Vehicle Body Repairer) Tradesperson/or Apprentice Tradesperson (Motor Vehicle Body Repairer) Windsor Bus Garage Rate of Pay: As per CUPE Collective Agreement Vacant position effective immediately Closing date for applications: Midnight, December 2, 2022Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Collective Agreement Local 3876.Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor (Fleet), this position involves body repair on Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education school buses and service fleet vehicles.Qualifications and Abilities:

  • Applicants must have Journeyperson Red Seal Certification as a Motor Vehicle Body Repairer or have completed an Auto Body and Collision Technician course from NSCC or equivalent and plan to continue towards certification in Auto Body and Collision Technician trade as an apprentice with Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency(NSAA).

  • Computer literacy and a commitment to ongoing training.
  • Good physical condition and agility is also a requirement.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform all body work (e.g. metal, fiberglass, plastics, etc.) including repairing, restoring and replacing damage (e.g. glass, trim, steering and suspension, etc.) to school buses and fleet vehicles.
  • Performs electrical, interior components, and rust repair of school buses and fleet vehicles.
  • Painting of buses and fleet vehicles.
  • Complete all assigned work orders in an accurate manner, and record time and materials used.
  • Keep work area clean and safe.
  • Maintain the safe operation of all equipment used in the bus garage and safe storage of all supplies.
  • All work is required to be in accordance with established standards, Nova Scotia legislation, and Board policies and procedures.
