Job Title: Maintenance TechnicianReports to: Equipment Manager Primary Function: To identify, inspect, troubleshoot and perform maintenance and/or repair functions on all owned or rental equipment, included but not limited to: aerial lift equipment, machinery, tools; and to procure equipment and tools for site personnel by various functions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following, and other duties as may be assigned:- Performs regular inspections and scheduled maintenance repair on all aerial lift equipment, in order to ensure operating and safety standards.- Consults with Equipment Manager regarding the inspection, safety, maintenance and repair contracts for aerial lifts.- Maintains current and up to date knowledge on operating practices and procedures, to detect incorrect and or unsafe situations pertaining to aerial lift.- Corrects any identified problems and/or trouble shoots problems, and repairs aerial lift.- Coordinates equipment safety inspections to ensure they are conducted in accordance to OH&S regulations ie: daily, monthly, weekly, and annually. - Ensures that maintenance records for aerial lift work are kept , properly maintained, updated and forwarded to the Equipment Manager.- When not in use, ensures aerial work platform controls are locked and are otherwise disabled, to prevent unauthorized use.- Notifies Equipment Manager of any equipment deficiencies.- Ensures that purchase orders issued for repairs on aerial work are approved by the Equipment Manager, prior to processing.- Ensures a good understanding and knowledge of the operators’ handbook for all working equipment.- Maintains the equipment of tools, machinery, vehicles, buildings, parts, mechanical operating devices, and heating systems, relating to Marid or rental companies working with Marid.- Provides accurate and thorough inspections of all Marid equipment, tools, harnesses, lanyards and machinery; and identifies when items are defective, by lock out/tag out until repair can take place.- Maintains lists, logs, charts, inventories, inspection sheets and/or reports of safety related paperwork; and submits this paperwork to necessary personnel for scanning purposes.- Ensures correct processes and procedures are adhered to; as per the Marid Loss Control Manual, Occupational Health & Safety Act, and/or applicable General Regulations, with respect to tools and maintenance.- Visits job sites, based on request to repair machinery, equipment, tools on bridges or buildings.- Works at warehouse, main facility, and off site job sites.- Provides prompt, courteous and attentive response to all Marid employees reporting defective items, and/or repairs.- Works with an ever changing schedule, and prioritizes jobs according to safety or production.- Repairs and maintains all Marid owned equipment and buildings, including but not limited to: generators, callibrators, leaf springs, mag drills, drill bits, zoom booms, trucks, trailers, cranes, sataline oxygen torches, welding equipment, trailer hitches, chop saws, motors, HILTI drills, torches, fuel filters, pipe sockets, grinders, core drills, wires, ladders, hoses, etc... - Lisases with management when required.- Repairs, maintains or replaces safety equipment, harnesses, lanyards, chains, links, shackles, latches, smoke eaters, face shields, etc...- Inventories all tools, machinery and/or equipment, according to repair, replacement, storage and for year end purposes.- Maintains accurate safety and administrative records of equipment and tools on site.- Gathers tools and equipment for SSR (Site Special Requirements).- Maintains records of gear issued to site for Site Foremen.- May paint items or build items like trailers etc...- Loads and unloads maintenance items onto trucks such as: ladders, gangboxes, callibrators, etc...- May take pressure readings, or voltage readings on various items ie: callibrators, welding machines and logs findings. - Removes oil from beam line and filters oil, cleans and replaces back into beam line.- Repairs vortex fans, fire extinguishers, plasma cutters, power tools.- Orders parts for equipment when required and may write out purchase orders.- Accepts deliveries by courier.- Uses forklifts, manlifts, scissorlifts, overhead cranes, Bobcat.- Ensures Marid policies, procedures and processes are followed.- Contributes to the ongoing initiatives of eliminating accidents and incidents in the workplace.- Contributes to the ongoing efforts of the quality assurance and LEAN programs.- Contributes to the ongoing efforts of ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees.- Participates in continuous improvement.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience required.Education/Experience: Diploma in mechanical and electrical repair, small engine repair and/or related equipment repair course, from a recognizable vocational school. Four or more years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business correspondence and technical documents (such as operators manuals, instructions, repair references). Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from managers, clients and other employees.Math Ability: Ability to work with basic math concepts such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, percentages, division.Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.Computer Skills: MS Office, Fabtrol, Email, Internet, ERP scheduling software is an asset.Certificates and Licenses: .Certification or license in aerial lift work, related to the maintenance and repair of aerial lifts from a recognizable institution is required. Operators license for forklift, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Storage Training; WHMIS, Fall Protection, Safety Orientation, valid driver=s license. CSS designation or any other safety related training certification is an asset.Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises electrical contractor, in the absence of Equipment Manager.Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.- working in steel fabrication facility and maintenance shop shop with exposure to heat, cold, dirt, dust and where noise is moderate.- Working in a manufacturing facility in production shop with exposure to heat, cold, dirt, dust and where noise is moderate.- Working in construction areas with exposure to heat, cold, dirt, dust and where noise is moderate.- Must wear PPE where applicable by law- Some travel may be required for the purposes of maintenance.- working at extreme heights on occasion- PPE RequiredPhysical Demands: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee is often required to lift up to 50 pounds. The vision requirements include: close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Hours of Work: This position works Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
