Reporting to the Manager, Dataamp; Analytics, the Data Developer is responsible for responsible for the design, development, and implementation of sophisticated data analytics solutions to support stakeholders at Payworks in making data-driven decisions. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into effective analytical solutions. The incumbent will also develop and maintain automated processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) with both on-premise and cloud environments. Additionally, ensuring the reliability, security, and optimal performance of Payworks’ analytics solutions, as well as compliance with internal and external regulations, are key to success in this position. SUPPORT AND COLLABORATE – IT’S WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Data management and optimization – You will utilize programming languages such as Python or SQL to manipulate and analyze data and derive insights from datasets. Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective analytical solutions.
  • Integrate and automate – You will develop and maintain automated processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading through both on premise and cloud environments to streamline analytics workflows. You will develop robust data cleaning and validation processes to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Data governance and compliance – You will partake in the implementation of data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and implement access controls and data security measures to protect sensitive information and mitigate risks.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Data Developer or similar position using Microsoft SQL and related technologies.
  • Proven experience in data analytics development using tools such as Python or SQL.
  • Hands-on experience in administering analytics platforms, with a strong emphasis on Azure services.
  • Familiarity with data security best practices and governance principles.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing, data lakes, and data modelling concepts.
  • Is an effective communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills and has the ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders with technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • Experience building data pipelines with ETL tools like SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is an asset but not required.
  • Experience with Azure services like Power BI, Azure Machine Learning, and Azure Databricks is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Agile and project support and management software such as Jira and Confluence is an asset.
