Located at 620 King Edward Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba, this full-time, on-site role involves diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, assembling custom systems, and delivering exceptional front-line customer service. • Conduct thorough diagnostics on a wide range of devices, including computers, laptops, tablets, drones, and gaming consoles, with particular emphasis on software-related problems such as operating system crashes, application errors, virus infections, and data corruption.
• Perform advanced software repairs, including reinstalling Windows, macOS, or Linux systems; removing malware and spyware using specialized tools; debugging software conflicts; and optimizing performance through updates, defragmentation, and resource management.
• Engage directly with clients at the front counter for initial diagnostics, gathering detailed histories of issues, reproducing problems in real-time, and providing preliminary assessments while ensuring a positive, reassuring experience.
• Assemble and configure custom PCs, integrating hardware components with software installations tailored to client needs, such as gaming setups or business productivity suites, while verifying compatibility and stability.
• Manage data services like backups, transfers, cloning, and recoveries, employing secure protocols to protect sensitive information and minimize downtime for Manitoba-based customers.
• Offer on-the-spot technical support and education to clients, explaining repair processes, preventive maintenance tips, and upgrade options in clear, non-technical language to foster long-term relationships.
• Collaborate with the sales team to recommend software solutions or enhancements during client interactions, contributing to upsell opportunities without compromising service integrity.
• Maintain detailed records of all repairs, diagnostics, and client communications in our internal system, ensuring compliance with privacy standards and supporting our turnaround goal.
• Participate in inventory management, tool maintenance, and eco-friendly recycling initiatives, while staying current with software trends like AI-driven diagnostics or cloud integration.

Requirements:

• Proven strong experience in software repair, with at least 1-2 years in roles involving in-depth troubleshooting of operating systems, applications, and network software; familiarity with tools like antivirus suites, registry editors, and diagnostic utilities is essential.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated through prior customer-facing roles, with the ability to communicate complex technical information empathetically, handle frustrated clients diplomatically, and perform accurate diagnostics under pressure at the front counter.
• Certification in computer repair and software support, such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, or equivalent, highlighting proficiency in both hardware and software domains.
• Comprehensive knowledge of hardware components (e.g., CPUs, GPUs, storage drives) combined with expertise in software environments, including Windows 11, macOS Ventura, Linux distributions, and common applications like Microsoft Office or Adobe Creative Suite.
• High school diploma required; a technical diploma or degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field from a Manitoba institution (e.g., Red River College) is highly preferred.
• Ability to methodically troubleshoot multifaceted issues, multitask in a busy workshop setting, and physically handle equipment weighing up to 20 kg.
