Job Description

Location: Advantage Assist/Asura Health Head Office, West EdmontonHours: Permanent FTE 0.5 We are currently seeking a Recreation Therapist to join our Advantage Assist team at our head office in West Edmonton. This is a part-time position (37.5 hours biweekly). We are flexible and willing to work with the right candidate to design a schedule that works for them.   • Support our seniors living sites by providing guidance on best practices for recreation activities
  • Engage in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of recreation programs in a safe manner to meet the needs of the residents
  • Support the residents and their families by enhancing independence, safety, dignity, and personal well-being while using a person-centered approach
  • Educate the residents and their families about the physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual benefits of recreation and leisure participation
  • Deliver effective and efficient care that promotes resident/family choice and acknowledges the strengths and limitations of the individual resident, as well respecting their need for safety and safety of others
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement
  • Create an environment that protects the confidentiality of the residents, staff, and activities of the community
  • Visit our Seniors Living sites including periodic travel to rural Alberta

Minimum Educational/Experience Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education required
  • Diploma/Degree in Recreation studies or adapted Physical Education preferred
  • In lieu of education, extensive work experience with seniors may be considered
  • Experience with seniors and/or people with disabilities required
  • Minimum of 1 year working in recreation/activity programming
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate an asset
