SummaryThis permanent key role reports to the Hatchery Manager and is critical to the success of Wynyard Hatchery Operation. The Hatchery Supervisor is accountable to manage the hatchery operations utilizing Lean Principles. This position coordinates with various departments within the hatchery to ensure broiler placements and deliveries run efficiently and commitments to customers are met.Key AccountabilitiesPlan and implement operations of broiler production to ensure cost effective, timely manufacture of quality products.Coordinate and integrate with all hatchery function areas to support over all hatchery operations in attaining output, productivity and quality.Assure compliance of all plant operations within company policy and Federal, Provincial and local regulations.Maintain overall broiler chick placements and co-ordinate deliveries, including egg transport to meet shipping requirements, sales commitments, marketing targets and customer satisfaction.Assist the Hatchery Manager to develop, implement Lean Processes throughout the hatchery & practice sustainability to ensure effective and economical operations.Implement and lead all hatchery programs including:safety programs to ensure compliance with safety regulations to minimize industrial injuries and meet regulatory requirements,preventative maintenance, repair and maintenance for all incubators, hatchers, processing and vaccination equipment, and transport vehicles,animal welfare.Accountable for the effective utilization of human resources in the hatchery. Ensuring appropriate scheduling and staffing levels are in order to assist in:providing a safe workplace for all employees,achieving Hatchery and Business Unit operational goals.QualificationsExperience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment and knowledge of Continuous Improvement initiatives is required.A minimum of 3 year’s experience in supervisory roles is required.
