The Coordinator of Live Haul acts as a liaison between the hatchery, producer, and processor to ensure supply of live is being met at plant level and support Sofina’s vision to become the most successful foods company in the world This position oversees the scheduling of catchers for chicken, as well as the live haul logistics for the Wynyard Plant.Key AccountabilitiesProvide information and act as a liaison between production and live operations to ensure healthy, usable product is being acquired and delivered.Manage the scheduling of the live haul trucking activity and catching crews to meet the plants requirements/kill schedules, by coordinating poultry placement to maximize planning and plant efficiency from farm to plant.Ensure all parties in the supply chain are following responsible handling of the birds during loading and transportation to the production facility, to meet the accountabilities required by the Health of Animal Regulation.Coordinate with field service to provide accurate and timely preliminary information from producers on bird sizing and quality of upcoming shipments.Oversee the live operations administration by ensuring accurate and timely payments are made through the Poultry Purchase Voucher (PPV) system.Investigate any loads that either have high dead-on arrival levels or improper bird handling. Perform driver interviews and work with legal counsel to provide approved reports to CFIA. Coordinate and document animal welfare NCR’s during catch to both farmers and catching crews.Obtain and coordinate all hauling permits required for all farms to meet individual municipalities requirements. Provide master list and copies for every live haul unit. Provide updates based on seasonal requirements and live haul equipment.Provide vacation coverage for Live Haul Supervisor and Procurement Manager.Provide training for all live haul drivers to meet Sofina’s Animal Care program in compliance to the Health of Animal Regulation.Oversee the GEOTAB application in Wynyard, train new drivers on the application, and trouble shoot any issues that arises. Liaise and troubleshoot with the West Transport division and third parties regarding lease vehicle issuesQualificationsMinimum of 5 years of food processing environment with post-secondary education in the field of logistics and warehouse management or equivalent experience.
