Dispatcher - Permanent #2021-150Tri-County Regional Centre for EducationThe Tri-County Regional Centre for Education encompasses the three counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby serving 5757 students in twenty-two (22) schools, composed of 13 Elementary Schools, 6 High Schools, 1 Middle School, and 2 Elementary/High Schools.Regional Centres for Education have Employment Equity Policies and/or processes and we actively encourage applications from under-represented groups, particularly people of African Nova Scotian, African Canadian and African ancestry and Mi’kmaw/Indigenous ancestry.   • Completion of Grade 12 and a community college secretarial program, or equivalent
  • Three years related experience in a public office (preferably in education)
  • Accurate word processing, database and spreadsheet skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, time management skills and problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public
Responsibilities:
  • Maintains accurate and up to date transportation files, for example:
o Maintains bus drivers’ and spare drivers’ hours of work, record graphs and submits quarterly reports of compliance.o Maintains up to date national safety code files and reports non-compliance.
  • Attends relative training sessions.
  • Provides efficient bus dispatch service.
  • Provides driver’s guidance relative to Board Policy and Federal / Provincial regulations.
  • Answers incoming calls from drivers on the mobile radio, assesses urgency of requests and explains operation and emergency procedures.
  • Schedules Bus trips, contacts spare drivers and calculates/authorizes bus forms.
  • Communicates school closure announcements, early dismissals and other driver broadcasts.
  • Responds to transportation inquiries using the web-based Bus Routing database.
  • Responsible for the following administrative duties:
o submits “Request for new Bus stop” forms for Coordinator of Transportationo SAP data entry for substitute bus driver bi-weekly payrollo SAP entry of FTE drivers’ payrollo Completion of extra-curricular Bus Trip Routines
  • Other related duties assigned.
