The French Immersion 7-12 Literacy Coach is expected to:Provide mentoring support to teachers and principals at the secondary level regarding Inquiry Based Learning (IBL), small group instruction and the Neurolinguistic approach.Work in classrooms with teachers to improve each teacher’s classroom-based instruction and assessment practices.Demonstrate the ability to be a collegial decision maker yet decisive and consistent.Provide knowledge of and commitment to quality inclusive education for all students.Have a deep understanding of Culturally Responsive Pedagogy.Demonstrated commitment to and above average knowledge and abilities in the areas of Second Language Literacy, Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) and student performance.Have strong interpersonal and communications skills in both French and English.Provide professional development to teachers in the areas of Small Group Instruction, Inquiry Based Learning and the Neurolinguistic Approach.Desired Qualifications:Valid Nova Scotia Teaching CertificateBachelor of Education – Secondary with a concentration in FrenchMinimum 7 years teaching experience preferably with second language learners.Bilingual; French and English: French major at university and/or extended period of immersion in French speaking environment and/or attendance at primary and secondary where French was the language of instruction.A Master’s Degree in Education with a Literacy concentration and/or a master’s degree in Education with a focus on diverse learners.Desired Experiences:Leadership/Coaching/Mentoring experience with second language literacy and/or Inquiry Based LearningExperience implementing Inquiry Based Learning at the secondary level.Comprehensive knowledge of FLA curriculum outcomes and a balanced literacy programExperience implementing the Neurolinguistic Approach at the secondary level.Cognizant of appropriate teaching materials related to Inquiry based Learning and Neurolinguistic Approach.Experience working with students in a small group setting.Experience gathering and analyzing student data.Experience presenting and developing professional development for teachers regarding literacy strategies.Only Shortlisted applicants will be contacted.SECURITY CHECKS:The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education requires that all newly hired employees provide a satisfactory Child Abuse Register Check and Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Checks.
