Job Description

The Town of Yarmouth is accepting application for the position of Grants Coordinator.ABOUT THE ROLEReporting to the Town Engineer, the Grants Coordinator will be responsible for researching, preparing, submitting and managing grant applications to secure funding on behalf of the organization. Developing a thorough knowledge of Provincial, Federal and non-governmental funding programs will be essential. You will lead the development of high-quality applications for funding in collaboration with Managers and Directors of the Town of Yarmouth.QUALIFICATIONSThe ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or relevant experience and education
  • A strong financial aptitude and excellent writing skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with an ability to quickly learn and organize new and complex technical information
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to work with individuals within various levels of government and funding partners
  • Proven experience building relationships with key stakeholders
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identify grant funding opportunities with the Provincial and Federal government, as well as non-governmental organizations such as Efficiency Nova Scotia, Develop Nova Scotia and Federation of Canadian Municipalities;
  • Develop and maintain a broad knowledge of the programs, services, plans and capital projects of the Town of Yarmouth;
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with staff and grant program administrators in all organizations to which the Town has or may apply;
  • Lead the development of high-quality applications for funding, in collaboration with Managers and Directors under whose responsibility the implementation of the work will fall;
  • Coordinate communications between Communications Coordinator and granting authorities;
  • Assist the Communications Coordinator in arranging announcements of successful grant awards, commencement of work, launching of programs and commissioning of projects;
  • Adhere to proposal reporting deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, reporting, and submission;
  • Work with Managers and Directors to confirm and monitor that funded projects are on track with expected outcomes, budget and timelines;
  • Maintain accurate records of grant applications: including grants applied to, status of application, grant deadline;
  • Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies, rules and guidelines.
