Position: Homestay Coordinator for the Nova Scotia International Student Program (NSISP) Reports to: Director of NSISP Location: Maple Grove Education Centre and Drumlin Heights Consolidated SchoolA strong candidate for this position is excited about the program and looks forward to working alongside students from various countries and with various cultures.Qualifications

• High School Diploma, or equivalent;
• Familiar with Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Apps and MyTrueNorth and know how to use them proficiently and in a timely manner- Training is available;
• Must have a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle with proper insurance
• Proven ability to communicate and work alongside diverse cultural and racial backgrounds;
• Completion of WHMIS and First Aid, or willingness to obtain upon hire.

• Lives in the catchment area of the school(s) the Coordinator is responsible for;
• Has the flexibility during the school year to be available at any time of day to respond to students and host families as time-sensitive situations arise;
• A team player who is be able to work independently and within deadlines;
• Open-minded and free from bias when working with host families;
• Demonstrated ability to value the voice and contribution of others while remaining open to corrective criticism.

Accountabilities

• Recruit families within your community by actively promoting the NS International Student program;
• Available to attend in-person or virtual training and meetings as required;
• Work within a budget and prepare and submit monthly reports on expenditures;
• Prepare reports on the status of NSISP students and host families;
• Prepare for and be available for student arrival, orientation and departure from the program;
• Participate in meetings hosted at the school regarding potential impacts to international students or host families;
• Respond to student behaviour, following regional policies and expectations;
• Plan, organize and oversee events. These include: monthly student excursions, activities throughout the school year, as well as events for host-families.
