YRH, with 100 inpatient beds, offers echocardiography, exercise stress testing with nuclear imaging and pharmacologic stress testing, pacemaker follow up, endoscopy (diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy), bronchoscopy, PFTs, Sleep studies, peritoneal dialysis, and hemodialysis (acute and chronic). Diagnostic imaging modalities include General imaging, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, CT scanning, and MRI. The ICU has its own portable ultrasound machine. There is a Cardiac Rehab Clinic managed by a Nurse and physiotherapist in collaboration with Internal Medicine Physicians. Traveling IM clinics to small communities in the Western Zone, particularly Digby and Shelburne, provide outreach services.YRH is a community site for the Core Internal Medicine program at Dalhousie University with approximately 4-5 residents per year. In addition, a fellowship program for the R4 and R5 fellows started in July 2019, which provides two fellows per year full-time.Responsibilitiesthe successful candidate will read the majority of the echocardiograms done at Yarmouth Regional Hospitalhe/she will share in coverage of IM on call and ICU servicesExpected HoursCompensation is fee for service with flexible vacation time - annual income will depend solely on your own clinical outputspecialists receive call stipends and other incentives as available through the Master Agreement of Nova ScotiaQualificationscandidates must be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC ) or eligible to take the Fellowship Exam in Internal Medicinemust hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).Community DetailsYarmouth is located at the southwestern most tip of Nova Scotia serving a population of approximately 60,000 in three counties.
