Operations span from Yarmouth to Lunenburg Counties, with main onshore facilities and assets located in Yarmouth. Kespuwick Resources hold access to 46 harvesting licenses, with a focus on lobster, in Lobster Fishing Areas (LFA) 33 and 34 in addition to Atlantic blue fin, tuna, snow crab, scallops, gaspereau and swordfish. Kespuwick Resources is currently recruiting for a for a Captain of the Kespuwick I Commercial Lobster Fishing Vessel that is responsible for the overall operations of the vessel, including the health and safety of the crew and all associated lobster fishing activities.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage fishing operations of Kespuwick I, supervising and assisting crew members
  • Coordinate and oversee Kespuwick I fishing activities, including determination of conditions for safe operation, fish to be sought, fishing location, method of capture, and duration of trip
  • Coordinate and oversee Kespuwick I vessel activities including, steering the vessel, operating engine, and loading and unloading of fishing equipment and catch
  • Assist crew members with moving, hoisting, and positioning loads
  • Maintain information on all gear and equipment assigned to the Kespuwick I by Kespuwick Resources Incorporated
  • Schedule and conduct routine inspections and maintenance of the vessel, gear and equipment, and inventory of supplies needed
  • Coordinate storage of gear and equipment when not in use for fishing activities
  • Adheres to all Acadia First Nation Policies & Procedures
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Fishing Master Class IV
  • Restricted Operator Certificate – Marine Commercial
  • MED A1 – Basic Safety Marine
  • Advanced First Aid
