Requisition ID: 71243Opportunity Type: PermanentEstimated Annual Salary: 350,000 - 400,000Type of Remuneration: APP- Alternative Payment PlanSite Visit & Reallocation Allowance Programs: Relocation Program; Site Visit ProgramDepartment of Health & Wellness Incentives: Tuition Relief; Debt Assistance*About the Opportunity*Yarmouth Regional Hospital (YRH), a 100 bed facility, is seeking an obstetrician/gynecologist to join the team. The physician will provide low risk prenatal and obstetrical care, office and operative gynecology services, colposcopy as well as some diagnostic imaging services (hysterosalpingograms and biophysical profile ultrasounds). This is a consultant role to provide support for five physicians who deliver primary care obstetrics. Call is 1:3. Physicians have an opportunity to work as a preceptor with medical students and residents as well. Compensation is through alternate payment plan. In addition, call stipends and other incentives are available through the Master Agreement between the Province of Nova Scotia and Doctors Nova Scotia.YRH provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient and satellite programs:

Responsibilities
  • full scope of practice as an obstetrician/gynecologist providing care to the patients within the Western Zone
  • participating in call and able to respond to urgent matters within 20 minutes of being called
  • provide support to your own site but also to others in the Western Zone if required, which will include day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
  • responsible to the Zone Department Head for Obstetrics & Gynecologist for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority

Qualifications
  • all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • all specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
  • membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
